"You can't solve a problem with the same thinking

that created it" (Albert Einstein)

What is Stress?

Stress is our brain's response to the issues we are dealing with in life, it can be a good thing as we all need a little stress to motivate us from time to time.  However if stress is long term it can have a significant impact on us and those around us.

The effects can be psychological such as inability to concentrate, poor memory or excessive worrying.  They can also be emotional, tearfulness, mood swings or irritability for example or they can be physical with many ailments being made worse by stress.

We can all end up in the vicious circle where due to feeling pressured we don't do something as well as we normally would which leads to more pressure to perform next time but that pressure means we can't perform and round and round we go ...

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a general feeling of unease which can be caused by specific issues such as public speaking or exams.  It can also be more generalised and lead to feeling uneasy or anxious about almost anything and everything.  If anxiety gets too bad it can lead to full blown panic attacks and have a significant impact on our enjoyment of life

How can hypnotherapy help?

As stress and anxiety are the result of the brain's inability to deal with everything that life throws at us sometimes taking time out to learn how to take back control, as I encourage my client's to do, is hugely beneficial.

Hypnotherapy includes guided relaxation during which the subconscious can create a picture of our preferred future.  As the subconscious mind, which influences our reactions, can't tell the difference between imagination and reality the guided relaxation starts to bring calmness and control back into our lives.

In  the words of Einstein "you can't solve a problem with the same thinking that created it." Solution Focused Hypnotherapy gives the opportunity to develop a new way of thinking.

Many successful people are using hypnotherapy to deal with their anxiety, Caroline Flack recently revealed she used hypnotherapy in  a discussion on Loose Women.  See the report in The Independent newspaper
